Turso (libSQL) as the database for your SaaS

Run a ShipAny app on Turso, the SQLite-compatible edge database — create the database and token, set three environment variables and push the SQLite schema.

Turso is a hosted, SQLite-compatible database (libSQL) with low-latency reads. It suits apps that want SQLite's simplicity in production on any host — Vercel, a Node server or Docker.

What ShipAny handles

  • A libSQL driver that connects with a database URL plus an auth token.
  • The same SQLite schema you use locally, so local development and production behave alike.
  • Drizzle workflows — db:push in development, generated migrations in production.

Setup

  1. Sign up for Turso Cloud and click Create Database.
  2. Open the database, click Create Token with Read & Write permission, and copy the database URL and token.
  3. Set the environment:
DATABASE_PROVIDER=turso
DATABASE_URL=libsql://your-db.turso.io
DATABASE_AUTH_TOKEN=your-token
  1. Run pnpm db:setup and pnpm db:push (or generate and run migrations for production), then pnpm rbac:init.

Tips

  • Treat the auth token as a secret — set it as an environment secret on your host, never in client-visible variables.
  • Choose a non-expiring token for production, or put token rotation on your calendar.
