Creem integration: merchant-of-record payments for SaaS
Accept one-time payments and subscriptions through Creem in ShipAny — Creem handles global sales tax as merchant of record, and plans map to Creem products from the admin panel.

Creem is a merchant of record: it sells to your customers on your behalf and takes care of sales tax and VAT around the world. That makes it a popular choice for indie makers who don't want to register for tax in every country. ShipAny supports Creem for both one-time payments and subscriptions, using the same order → subscription → credits pipeline as Stripe.
What ShipAny handles
- Checkout for one-time and subscription plans, created from your server-side pricing catalog.
- Signed webhooks at
/api/payment/notify/creemthat mark orders paid, create or renew subscriptions and grant credits — atomically and idempotently. - Sandbox and production environments, switchable in the admin panel.
- A test amount setting, so you can run a real end-to-end payment for $0.01 before going live.
Setup
- Sign in to the Creem dashboard. Use Test mode (top right) while you build.
- Under Developers, copy your API key.
- Under Products, create one product per plan in your pricing catalog. Currency, price and billing interval must match the plan exactly. Copy each product ID.
- Add a webhook pointing to
https://<your-domain>/api/payment/notify/creemand copy its signing secret. - In ShipAny, open Admin → Settings → Payment → Creem: switch on Enable Creem, choose the environment, fill in the API key and signing secret, and paste a JSON object mapping your plan IDs to Creem product IDs:
{ "starter_monthly": "prod_xxx", "pro_yearly": "prod_yyy" }
- Set Creem as the default provider (or turn on the payment-method selector) under Payment → Basic, then run a test purchase.
Tips
- Keep the product mapping in sync. If you add a plan or change a price, create the matching Creem product and update the mapping — Creem charges the price of its own product.
- Switch the environment and keys together when you go live: sandbox keys don't work against production and vice versa.
- Creem works well alongside Stripe: offer Stripe for cards and Creem for buyers who need a merchant-of-record invoice.
