OpenAI and Claude (Anthropic) for AI agent SaaS
Connect OpenAI, any OpenAI-compatible gateway (such as OpenRouter) or Anthropic Claude to a ShipAny app — the chat models that power the image, video and voice agent templates.
Last updated: Oct 8, 2026
ShipAny's agent templates use a chat model as the "brain": it reads what the user asks for, decides which tool to call — generate an image, edit it, animate it — and writes the prompt. You can plug in OpenAI, any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, or Anthropic Claude.
What ShipAny handles
- Admin-configured providers: a base URL and API key for OpenAI and for Anthropic, stored in your config table rather than env files.
- OpenAI-compatible gateways: point the OpenAI base URL at a gateway such as OpenRouter or Together, or your own proxy, to use other models through the same API.
- Fallback between providers: in the agent templates, the default chat provider can prefer OpenAI and fall back to Anthropic.
- Credits for tool calls: the media generation the agent triggers runs as metered AI tasks, so usage is billed in credits.
Setup
- Get an API key from OpenAI, Anthropic or your OpenAI-compatible gateway.
- In ShipAny, open Admin → Settings → AI and fill in the base URL and API key under OpenAI and/or Anthropic. Leave the base URL at its default for the official APIs.
- In an agent template, choose the default chat provider and model in its AI settings.
- Send a request in the app and confirm the agent responds and calls its tools.
Tips
- Pick a model with reliable tool calling — agents depend on it more than on raw writing quality.
- Keep the default and a fallback provider configured so a provider outage doesn't take your product down.
