GitHub login for developer-focused SaaS
Add "Sign in with GitHub" to a ShipAny app — create a GitHub OAuth App, set the callback URL and enable it from the admin panel.
Last updated: Oct 8, 2026
If your users are developers, "Sign in with GitHub" removes almost all signup friction. ShipAny's better-auth setup includes GitHub OAuth out of the box.
What ShipAny handles
- OAuth flow with the callback at
/api/auth/callback/github. - Users, linked accounts and sessions stored in your own database.
- Admin-panel configuration — no code changes or redeploys to enable or rotate credentials.
Setup
- Go to GitHub → Settings → Developer settings → OAuth Apps and click New OAuth App.
- Set the application name, your homepage URL, and the authorization callback URL
https://your-domain.com/api/auth/callback/github. - Register the app, then click Generate a new client secret. Copy the client ID and client secret.
- In ShipAny, open Admin → Settings → Auth → GitHub Auth, paste both values and switch on Enable GitHub auth.
Tips
- A GitHub OAuth App supports a single callback URL. Create separate apps for local development, staging and production.
- Some GitHub users keep their email private; better-auth requests the email scope so accounts still get a usable address.
